Thyroid nodule
Make it clearer
Thyroid nodules are lumps in the neck. The word nodule describes a localized finding, but by itself it says nothing about what that finding is.
Ultrasound can examine these lumps in greater detail. When indicated, fine-needle aspiration obtains small samples to determine whether the tissue is cancerous or noncancerous.
