Uterus
Make it clearer
The uterus is a hollow muscular organ in the pelvis that plays a role in menstruation, pregnancy, and labor. It is more than a cavity: its wall changes with these processes and can also generate contractions.
That wall is built in layers. The endometrium lines the cavity, the myometrium forms the middle muscular layer, and the perimetrium covers the outer surface. The result is a cavity surrounded by an inner lining, a muscular mass, and an outer covering.
In brief
The uterus is a hollow muscular organ in the pelvis that plays a role in menstruation, pregnancy, and labor.
Its wall consists of an inner endometrium, a muscular myometrium in the middle, and an outer perimetrium.
