Function of the ovary

The ovary houses oocytes and produces hormones. Both functions occur within the same organ.
Oocytes are found within follicles. FSH, or follicle-stimulating hormone, acts on granulosa cells and promotes follicular growth and maturation. This links the ovary’s reproductive and hormonal roles.
