Histology of the ovary
Make it clearer
Ovarian histology distinguishes a cortex and a medulla. The cortex contains the ovarian follicles.
The medulla occupies the central region. It is made of loose connective tissue and contains major blood vessels. Picture two continuous regions within the same organ: one with follicles and the other providing supporting tissue and vessels.
